HOROWHENUA-KAPITI 40 BULLER 15
Horowhenua-Kapiti's NPC third division rugby campaign is back on track after a comprehensive win over Buller in Levin today.
Three tries from captain Craig Tansley helped Horowhenua to secure a bonus point.
Tansley scored in the first five minutes of the game to help restore his team's confidence after their drubbing at the hands of North Otago last weekend.
Buller responded by mounting an attack at Horowhenua's line but were unable to break through the home team's solid defence.
Horowhenua-Kapiti finished the first half with a flourish after wing Jimmy Gould, second five-eighth Matthew Oldridge and Tansley scored tries in the last 10 minutes for their side to change ends with a 28-0 lead.
Horowhenua-Kapiti started the second half the same as the first, with a try to David Tiriha after six minutes.
Buller hit back with their first points of the game in the 11th minute of the second spell when winger John Mow went over for a try.
It then went try for try as first Tansley crossed the line for the third time and then Buller grabbed another through fullback Blair Cotching.
Buller had their third try when Sailasa Limamaka scored, but by then it was too late and Horowhenua-Kapiti had recorded their fourth win from five outings this season.
