Graham Henry has taken over as Auckland rugby's head NPC coach again.
The Auckland Rugby Union announced today Henry would be coach for the next two seasons, replacing Wayne Pivac who stepped down after five years when he, along with Grant Fox, led the province to back-to-back NPC championships this year.
Henry, who was Auckland's technical adviser this season, was coach of the province from 1992-97.
He also coached the Blues Super 12 team from 1996 to 1998, Wales in 1999-02 and was in charge of the British and Irish Lions on their 2001 tour of Australia.
Auckland Rugby chief executive David White said Henry's appointment was an exciting one for the union.
"His coaching talents are amongst the best in the world," White said.
Henry will play a key role in appointing assistant coaches by the end of next week.
Henry has helped the Auckland NPC team for the past three seasons, since returning from Wales.
"I've thoroughly enjoyed the three campaigns I have been a part of," he said.
"I am looking forward to the challenge of once again being the head coach.
"The last two NPC seasons and this year's Super 12 especially have been among the most enjoyable I have experienced and I am looking forward to the 2004 season which I know will be every bit as exciting and rewarding."
