Former Wellington player Cory Jane scored two tries to help Hawke's Bay beat Counties-Manukau 41-20 in the national division two rugby championship semifinal in Napier today.
The victory will allow the Magpies to avenge last Saturday's loss to Nelson Bays when the two teams meet in the final in Nelson the coming Saturday.
Nelson Bays beat North Otago 32-15 in the other semifinal in Nelson yesterday.
Jane, following up play from fullback, scored his team's second and last try in their five tries to two win in a game the Hawke's Bay forwards were far superior than their opponents for most of the game.
Hawke's Bay playmaker Eddie Hekenui kicked 14 points from two penalties and four conversion. Jane converted his second try.
