GOLD COAST - Former Wallabies rugby star Elton Flatley will apply for a work licence when he reappears in a court on a drink driving charge.

Flatley, 30, of Mermaid Beach on the Gold Coast, appeared in Southport Magistrates Court today.

Police said Flatley recorded a blood
alcohol reading of .108 in a roadside breath test at Mermaid Beach at 3.28am on November 3.

Flatley did not enter a plea and is due to reappear in court on January 10.

Speaking to reporters outside the court today, Flatley said it had been a learning experience.

"We've learnt our lesson and will move on from it," Flatley said.

"I'm just applying for a work licence - that's all I've got to say."
