Former England captain Lawrence Dallaglio says he will risk missing England's rugby tour of Australia this year to have a metal plate removed from his ankle so he can compete for a place in the 2007 World Cup squad.
The 34-year-old 2003 World Cup-winning No 8 said it would be in his "best interests" to have the operation within the next few months.
Dallaglio failed to start any of the Six Nations matches this campaign despite England's disappointing campaign.
