Australia and SA secure big wins

Samoa received a hiding from Australia, going down 74-7 at Telstra Stadium.

The Wallabies outscored their Pacific Island rivals 12 tries to one.

Stirling Mortlock, Nathan Sharpe and Wendell Sailor all scored two tries, with Rocky Elsom, Clyde Rathbone, Mark Chisholm, Chris Latham, Morgan Turinui and Mat Rogers grabbing one apiece.

Terry Fanolua crossed the line for Samoa's sole try.

Meanwhile, there was a crushing victory for South Africa in their first test of the season.

The Springboks walloped Uruguay 134-3, setting a host of records along the way.

It is South Africa's highest score in test history, while winger Tonderai Chavhanga's six tries surpasses the previous Springbok record of five set by Stefan Terblanche.

The 21-try rout easily topped the previous best of 15 tries in a test by South Africa.
