Eight months after the Wallabies thrilled and spilled their way to a World Cup final under the charismatic coaching of Michael Cheika, they wear an entirely different honour.
They are the first Australian team in 45 years to lose a series three-nil after going down 44-40 to Eddie Jones' superior England.
Now, with two Bledisloe Cup clashes with New Zealand on the horizon, they face the frightening prospect of losing five on the trot. How quickly the mighty have fallen.

Were England "dull", as Cheika said they were?
No! They scored 44 points! In the first half in particular they played with great pace, with George Ford flat on the gain line and troubling Australia at every opportunity. Ben Youngs was always looking for runners and this was especially obvious when Dan Cole scored England's first try after nine phases and after Mako Vunipola had made a huge bust.
They have lost 3-0 to England at home! That for any Australian is a calamity of the highest order. They have been excellent in patches but never consistently enough to beat this rampant England side.
And they will be concerned about New Zealand's imperious form as they prepare to meet them in the opening Rugby Championship match in mid-August.
Cheika is under serious pressure now. They have much to do.

"I'm an eternal optimist," Jones said. "There were weaknesses in the Australian side that we identified, I thought we could get them in certain areas, so the possibility of us winning 3-0 was always a strong chance."
"It's all been a bit of fun. I think it's been a great tour, fantastic for rugby, three really cracking games, it's brought rugby more into the sports landscape here."

This was a thunderous, pulsating classic. It is unlikely that there will be a better international this year, or for many a year. Both teams demonstrated courage and daring and glorious skill, while also finding the primal intensity to smash each other mercilessly.
The lead change hands umpteen times, but when it mattered, the visitors found a way to round off their mission Down Under in memorable fashion. In the process, they scored more points than they ever have before against one of the SANZAR giants away from home.
