New Zealand are mystified by Welsh claims that a double booking allows them just one date to host a Grand Slam All Black tour this year.
Welsh chief executive David Moffett was emphatic the only offer was for a November 5 test in Cardiff at the start of the All Blacks' tour.
There was no leeway to cater for New Zealand's preferred choice of December 3 because there was another event being held that day at the Millennium Stadium.
But NZRFU chief executive Chris Moller was sceptical.
"We have asked Mr Moffett several times what the event is, but we cannot get an answer. There is no mention of anything on their website either," he said.
"We told Wales the reasons for our reluctance to go with the early date, because it was just a fortnight after the NPC final and we wanted our players to be involved.
"We feel it is not unreasonable to be told what the contracted event is that prevents Wales going with the later date.
"If Mr Moffett wants to tell us in confidence and to keep it out of the media, that is fine, we will respect that. But we are in the dark about it now."
Moller said he had asked his Welsh counterpart several times for some details about the event planned for December 3 at the Millennium Stadium.
"We don't think it unreasonable to ask what is causing the difficulties," Moller said. "We would like to get some clarity on the restraints.
"We would like to know if the event can be moved or some compensation paid to have it shifted or some other solution."
Initially, Wales could not meet the Grand Slam wishes because of their players' club v country contract wrangles.
Welsh claim sparks questions from Moller
