Springboks coach Jake White isn't hitting the panic button yet despite the side's worst defeat at home under his tenure.
South Africa have just a week to turn things around when they play the All Blacks at Rustenburg on Sunday (NZT).
But White said he thought his players could claw their way out of one of their worst runs after sinking to their fifth successive defeat.
"These are very trying times for the team but I have full faith in my players. These are the same players who have achieved in the past so there is no reason for me not to have faith in them," White told the Independent Online.
"I couldn't understand why we went from a boil to giving them the game."
The Springboks capitalised on early All Black mistakes and were leading after the first quarter of the match.
But his side had capitulated to leak five tries in the match.
"The concern is that we had a good start but we failed to capitalise on it.
"When we make mistakes like that against a team like the All Blacks they will punish you.
"One can't praise them enough, we've got to give them credit. We gave them a lot of space, we've got to see why we gave them so much space. We allowed the All Blacks to play the way they wanted to play."
But White could take heart by the performance from some of his bench players.
Five-eighth Andre Pretorius made an immediate impact when he replaced Butch James and Ruan Pienaar injected some x-factor at fullback in place of Percy Montgomery.
He could also look to the performances of late replacement flankers Pierre Spies, 21, and Pedrie Wannenburg, who came off the bench for Solly Tyibilika.
The Boks will face an even tougher task at the Royal Bafokeng Sport Palace in Rustenburg, a test which White and his charges will be desperate to win to break their losing streak.
"It's tough every week. It is a must-win test every week."
