The All Blacks could be facing their toughest challenge ever against a Pacific Island side this afternoon.

Pacific Island nations have played 15 games against the All Blacks, losing each one, and only coming within 30 points on two occasions.

The closest a Pacific Island side has come to toppling the mighty AB's was in 2004, when a Pacific Islanders side lost 41-26, while Samoa put in a solid effort in 1993, losing 35-13.

However, this Samoa side could put up a fight comparable to those efforts of yesteryear, with the home conditions a big advantage, while the squad has recorded some notable wins since they last took on the All Blacks in 2008.

Since that date - a crushing 101-14 defeat - Samoa have picked up some impressive wins against top-tier rugby nations, beating Australia in 2011, Wales in 2012, Scotland in 2013 and twice toppling Italy.

The average margin of victory for the All Blacks against Pacific Island sides is 55.6 points, but with the TAB offering a points spread of 28.5, Samoa could put up one of the sternest Pacific Island challenges yet for an All Blacks side.
