Two five-pointers from All Blacks winger Julian Savea have been nominated for the International Rugby Players' Association Try of the Year award.
Savea's two nominations were part of a hattrick of tries the 25-year-old scored in a Man of the Match display in the All Blacks scorching 62-13 thrashing of France in the World Cup quarterfinal in Cardiff.
The two tries showcased Savea's range of attacking skills, with the first effort seeing him latch on to a back-handed flick pass from Dan Carter to race in untouched, while the second saw him trample three French defenders before planting the ball down in a tremendous show of power and strength.
He joins French prop Vincent Debaty, Welsh flanker Justin Tipuric, Tonga winger Fetu'u Vainikolo and Japan fullback Ayumu Goromaru on the short list for the award.
The tries were judged by a panel of former players, including former All Blacks fullback Christian Cullen, Ireland's Shane Horgan, Serge Betsen of France and South Africa's Stefan Terblanche.
