Many of North Harbour's former All Blacks will make a return to Onewa Domain, their old stamping ground of the 1980s and 90s, on Sunday as part of the Takapuna club's 75th jubilee celebrations.
The weekend's celebrations will end with a New Barbarians-Takapuna Invitation XV match on Sunday, kicking off at 2pm. Among the players will be Eric Rush, Glen Osborne, Graham Dowd, Blair Larsen, Frank Bunce and Frano Botica.
Harbour representative selectors Craig Dowd and Jeff Wilson, will also appear for the Barbarians, who will also include a smattering of promising players such as the Northcote club's Mayhew brothers.
Among guest speakers at several formal functions will be the vice-president of the New Zealand Rugby Union, Bryan Williams, who during the 1970s and 80s was a frequent opponent of Takapuna sides while playing with Ponsonby when Takapuna were part of the Auckland union.
Takapuna have been North Harbour's most successful club since the union's inception in 1985, having won the premiership 11 times.
