Sonny Bill Williams is to return to New Zealand rugby, confirming a two-year deal with the New Zealand Rugby Union and the Chiefs it was announced today.
The deal for 2015-2016 will see 28-year-old again play for the Chiefs in the Super Rugby competition and push again for All Blacks honours.
Williams won the 2012 Super 15 title with the Chiefs before returning to rugby league where he won this year's NRL title with the Roosters. The Kiwis second rower will play for the Roosters next year before making a second switch to rugby. He was named International League Player of the Year last month.
Williams previously played for Canterbury in the ITM Cup, the Crusaders and Chiefs Super Rugby teams and the All Blacks from 2010 to 2012. He has played 19 tests for the All Blacks, the last being against the Wallabies in Auckland last year and took the field at every New Zealand match at the 2011 Rugby World Cup.
Williams also won the New Zealand Professional Boxing Association heavyweight championship before his 2012 season with the Chiefs but hasn't fought in the last 12 months.
