IRB referees boss Paddy O'Brien is calling for a greater use of technology in rugby.
O'Brien cites a forward pass that was missed in the lead-up to Richie McCaw's crucial try against the Springboks at the weekend.
He believes rugby referees should get the same advantage as league officials do to ask for a review of the build-up to a try.
O'Brien told Radio Sport rugby referees are at a serious disadvantage.
He says the bottom line is they don't have that advantage and there'll be a greater amount of errors.
O'Brien says he approached the IRB council on the issue and was turned down.
