New Zealand Rugby is set for a big shake-up after the findings of a recent review into the culture of the sport in New Zealand.
The NZR's affiliated bodies on Wednesday voted by an overwhelming majority to change the NZR's constitution - and specifically to update the selection processes for board candidates.
This follows the findings of the Respect and Responsibility Review released last month, that identified no less than 36 cases of misconduct after incidents such as the mistreatment of a stripper hired for a Chiefs end-of-season party last year, and All Black Aaron Smith's airport toilet sex incident.
According to the changes made at a Special General Meeting, the NZR board will in future consist of six - rather than three - appointed members, while at least one woman will be part of the Appointments and Remuneration Committee from now on.
The changes aim to facilitate a broader range of skills and attributes amongst board members, in a move designed to strengthen and future-proof the governance of rugby, the NZR said in a statement.
