All Blacks aspirant Sonny Bill Williams will turn his attentions to rugby after knocking out fellow New Zealander Ryan "Hulk" Hogan in a boxing bout in Brisbane.
Fighting on the undercard to Anthony Mundine's bout against Argentine Carlos Aden Jerez, Williams took just 2m 30s into the opening round to floor Hogan, who crumpled to the canvas after a right hook.
Williams, who will be named in Canterbury's squad from the start of the ITM Cup on July 30, hardly broke a sweat.
It was a classic mismatch and the first round TKO came as no surprise.
Williams said he would have preferred a more brutal encounter and was disappointed the grossly overweight Hogan was able to land a couple of blows.
"He moved around a bit and I would have liked it to be a bit more toe-to-toe," Williams said. "He got me with a couple of shots which was disappointing."
Williams said he would return to New Zealand this weekend and concentrate on his rugby career and earning an All Blacks jersey.
Mundine won a unanimous points decision against Jerez in their WBA international light middleweight bout. Mundine, who is the No 2 contender for the WBA title, had superior reach and firepower and landed some heavy blows during the 12 round contest.
But to Jerez's credit he withstood the barrages and kept moving to avoid making himself an easy target for Mundine's strong jabs and right hooks.
Two judges scored the fight 118-110 while one scored it 120-109.
