All Blacks halfback Alby Mathewson will play his rugby for Auckland next season.
He confirmed today this would be his last season for Wellington, who he represents for the 48th time in a national provincial championship match against Otago in Dunedin tomorrow night.
The 24-year-old played for the Blues in this year's Super 14 competition, heading north for guaranteed game time after playing second fiddle to Piri Weepu at the Hurricanes.
Mathewson made his All Blacks test debut off the reserves bench against Australia in Christchurch last weekend.
