Sione Lauaki has re-signed with the New Zealand and Waikato rugby unions.
Lauaki had been linked with a move to Japan at the end of the year, but the former All Black number eight has signed on with the NZRU for two years and with Waikato for one year.
Waikato Rugby CEO Graham Bowen says Lauaki has an out clause at the end of next year. He says Super 14 contracts are different to provincial contracts, but they will have him for 2010 at least.
Lauaki has resumed training with Waikato, having missed the last two months with a foot injury.
