He's fit and available, but Israel Dagg has missed out on selection in the Crusaders' 23 to take on the Highlanders on Friday night.
Dagg has undergone a horror last 10 months, suffering a knee injury while playing for the All Blacks against Argentina in September. While he returned to the Crusaders in April, he had an unfortunate setback against the Brumbies, and was forced back to the sidelines.
However, he returned to the Crusaders' starting fifteen for their win over the Chiefs last month, and also started against the French Barbarians, but those performances weren't good enough to earn selection for Friday's Kiwi derby.
The Crusaders have opted to start David Havili at fullback, with Seta Tamanivalu and George Bridge on the wings, with the powerful Manasa Mataele coming off the bench, leaving the 66-test All Black having to play club rugby.
"It was the toughest decision for us," Crusaders head coach Scott Robertson explained to Radio Sport's D'Arcy Waldegrave.
