All Blacks coach Graham Henry admits he is desperate for Dan Carter to stay in New Zealand.
Henry made the comment at the launch of ticket sales for the All Blacks' home test series, ahead of the first game against Ireland in Wellington next month.
Henry says Carter knows the selectors are very keen to see him stay, but it is just about communicating through the appropriate channels. He says as well as the Carter situation, he is concerned about the country's depth at lock and at second five.
However Henry is adamant the NZRU should not buckle to pressure and let overseas-based players be picked for the All Blacks.
The first All Blacks squad of the year is due to be named the day after the Super 14 final.
