Uncertainty exists around All Blacks prop Charlie Faumuina's involvement in the international rugby season.
It's understood Faumuina could be facing the prospect of neck surgery.
His last game for the Blues was on May 2 with a neck strain seeing him miss the last two weeks of the Super Rugby season.
If minor surgery is needed, it would be highly unlikely to hear his name read out on Sunday afternoon when the first All Black squad of the year is announced.
Should Faumuina be unavailable, that could bring Crusaders tighthead Nepo Laulala even further into All Blacks consideration.
