KEY POINTS:
Crusaders forwards Greg Somerville and Mose Tuiali'i have been linked with a recruitment drive from Welsh rugby club the Llanelli Scarlets.
Chief executive Stuart Gallacher and director of rugby Phil Davies returned from a trip to Australasia confident of having agreed terms with at least one international player.
They expected to make an announcement early next week.
Swansea's Evening Post newspaper said veteran All Blacks prop Somerville was spoken to while No 8 Tuiali'i and Australian loose forwards David Lyons and Rocky Elsom have also been linked.
"We met with his (Somerville's) agent as we did with many others of All Black standard," Gallacher told the newspaper.
"We have agreed terms with one player. It is a matter of getting clearance from his union, which I am led to believe won't be difficult. That is one done.
"We are in negotiation with another international player, who is contracted with his union until November.
"He has got our offer on the table, he has a family, which has to be taken into consideration."
Currently, the region have two former All Blacks on their books - centre Regan King and lock Simon Maling - along with Waikato prop Deacon Manu and Samoan hooker Mahonri Schwalger.
