KEY POINTS:
Ending a heavenly record at Eden Park is the historical challenge facing the Wallabies tomorrow.
The venue is where the All Blacks have built their longest unbeaten streak, with the current run of 17 tests dating back to 1994.
Since losing to France and then drawing with South Africa that year, New Zealand have rattled off 16 straight wins.
The next most successful burst was the 14 test wins at Dunedin from 1971 to 2001 - a record ended by Australia.
Eden Park, set to host the major games at the 2011 World Cup, has been a veritable fortress since 1980, with the All Blacks having lost just two of their last 36 tests there.
The other defeat was to Australia, 9-22, when the Andrew Slack-captained team forged a 2-1 series win to hoist the Bledisloe Cup.
Since then the Wallabies have been winless in eight visits to Eden Park but the last three have provided New Zealand with the narrowest winning margins of the current streak.
The All Blacks won 21-17 to reclaim the Bledisloe Cup in 2003. In 2005 they got home 34-24 and last year held off the surging Wallabies 34-27.
Meanwhile, if the All Blacks win tomorrow, it will be their fifth consecutive series defence of the Bledisloe Cup since 2003 - the second most successful tenure.
The longest tenure was New Zealand's 11 series defences from 1951-78.
