Jonah Lomu has said he is confident of playing his way back into the New Zealand team.
"I reckon I can [do it]," Lomu said in the weekend. He is playing for Welsh club Cardiff as part of his comeback to competitive rugby union following a life-threatening kidney problem that needed a transplant in July 2004.
"There is no doubt in my mind," the giant winger added. "I feel I'm getting better each week. I'm taking it step by step, and I feel I'm getting in the right direction.
"For me, there is just a lack of games. I have not played many games so far," the 30-year-old said after Cardiff went down to a 21-3 home defeat to Perpignan in the European Cup.
Lomu, scorer of 37 tries in 66 tests for the All Blacks, was the most feared attacker in the game after the 1995 World Cup.
