Wallaby coach Eddie Jones yesterday tipped a refreshed New Zealand to buck the trend of home team wins in international rugby by beating South Africa in Saturday's Tri-Nations test in Cape Town.
The last 10 Tri-Nations tests have all been won by the home team and Jones said it was extremely difficult for away sides to win.
However, Jones believed the respective recent schedules of South Africa and New Zealand meant the defending champions would start as underdogs this weekend despite their strong form at home.
The match at Newlands represents New Zealand's first test in four weeks following their 3-0 home series win over the Lions.
Conversely, South Africa will be playing their seventh test in nine weeks and for the third straight weekend after back to back home games against Australia.
Jones joked a 0-0 draw would be the best result for Australia, but levity aside said it would be a difficult game for the Springboks to win.
"It's their third test in a row, it's really going to test their resources," Jones said.
I think (All Blacks coach) Graham Henry made the point it's very difficult to get up and play three tests in a row.
New Zealand, on the other hand, are refreshed and rejuvenated after its break.
"I think New Zealand definitely go in as favourites because of that fact."
