Former test rugby referee Dave Millar has died in Wanaka at the age of 75.
Millar controlled 70 first-class games over nearly two decades from 1961.
He also refereed eight test matches, including two All Black tests against the touring Lions in 1977 and all three All Blacks-Australia matches in 1978.
"Not only did Dave Millar have an outstanding first-class career, he also became an outstanding administrator, serving as New Zealand Rugby Referees Association [NZRRA] chairman from 1987 to 1991," NZRU high performance referees manager Keith Lawrence said in a tribute.
Millar was made a life member of the NZRRA in 1992.
