KEY POINTS:
There's no doubt that Robbie Deans is an excellent coach and any country in the rugby-playing world would be grateful to have him.
And there will undoubtedly be many New Zealanders - particularly those across the Strait - who will feel he was robbed on Friday.
But I'm glad the NZRU has retained Graham Henry.
He gave us three glorious years of All Black wins only to fail dismally at the World Cup.
Like so many other coaches before him. Past coaches have been treated appallingly - both by the rugby-mad public and the mad rugby administration. Now there's the opportunity for a coach to learn from his mistakes and build on the base he's created for the All Black team.
Graham Henry has suffered as a result of the loss - there's no doubt about that. He's taken a pasting from many sports journalists who had their pens poised ready to write him off to rugby oblivion. But the Great Redeemer has been given a chance to redeem his reputation and his team's - and as a rugby fan, I'm glad.
