A Fijian player has been fined $500 by the New Zealand Rugby Union for failing a drug test after the match against the All Blacks in June.
Vilimoni Delasau was required to provide a sample by the New Zealand Sports Drug Agency following the test match at North Harbour Stadium.
The agency found that the sample contained a metabolite of cannabis, a prohibited substance on the World Anti-Doping Code List of Prohibited Substances.
The NZRU was advised of the positive test on August 3 and, as a result, Canterbury and Crusaders winger Delasau was provisionally suspended until today's hearing meaning he missed one match for his Canterbury provincial side and was unavailable for selection this weekend. It was last week reported he had missed the game because of an eye injury.
The NZRU Judicial Committee in Wellington found Delasau guilty of the anti-doping rule violation under Regulation 3 of the NZRU Doping Regulations.
Having considered all of the circumstances, the player was warned, reprimanded and fined.
The full decision of the Judicial Committee will be released in due course.
Delasau made his test debut against the USA in 2000. Fiji lost the June 10 test 91-0.
