The greatest compliment the Welsh will be paid after their Six Nations victory will not necessarily be in the number of Welsh players chosen for the Lions. It will be in the style and pattern that the Lions play.
Sir Clive Woodward must be interested in what the Welsh have achieved. Before the Six Nations, everyone was saying the Lions would play 10-man rugby, use the forwards to expose deficiencies in the All Black pack, kick for territory and kick the goals.
But after the Welsh success at having quality ball used by a penetrative set of backs, I am sure Woodward will be keen on adopting that expansive game.
There is no question - the Welsh were the best team in the Six Nations and deserved the Grand Slam. But the best team doesn't always have the best individuals and, as you look through the English, Irish and even Scottish sides, you can see areas in which individuals from those nations will strengthen the Lions - specifically at loose forward and in the set piece.
I also think Woodward will be focused on bringing players like Jonny Wilkinson, Matt Dawson and Lawrence Dallaglio. Dallaglio is an old head and a powerful player and Woodward has made it clear that Wilkinson will be going if he is 100 per cent fit.
I'm not sure how you get 100 per cent fit without playing but Wilkinson means too much to this side to leave him behind - because of his attitude and his influence off the field, in terms of professionalism. Woodward will want that even if Wilkinson doesn't play in some or even many of the games.
If you're wondering what I'm talking about, I have two words for you: Andy Dalton. He was our skipper for the inaugural World Cup but was injured and some other hooker got a go.
But the influence of Andy on the team - his professionalism, his manner, his bearing and his attitude - was vast, even though he did not play.
If Wilkinson doesn't play, the Lions have an ideal replacement in Stephen Jones of Wales. He's been fantastic this year.
As for a test XV, Woodward has some tough choices.
I think Dallaglio will go straight into the starting XV and, when you look at the possible test squad, you can see what a powerful side it is.
I think he'll have Steve Thompson at hooker,
Lewis Moody might get a start if Richard Hill isn't up to scratch.
Overall, the Lions will trouble the All Blacks - particularly if Woodward marries the Welsh style to the strong complement of players he will have.
