The drums are getting louder, and not just those bedecked in red, yellow and black, calling for Sitiveni Sivivatu's call-up to the All Blacks.
And the dazzling Chiefs winger gave his admirers further ammunition with his three-try burst in their fine win over the Highlanders in Hamilton.
The All Black trial is in Napier on June 3 and there is a strong case that he should be in the test team to play Fiji in the pre-Lions warm-up international at Albany on June 10.
"That's not my decision," Chiefs coach Ian Foster said when asked if the 23-year-old was ready for the All Black call. "But since he's come back [after injury] I think he's been the best winger in the competition. He's been outstanding."
Chiefs and All Black flanker Marty Holah also backed Sivivatu's credentials.
"He's shown he can defend as well as attack. I can't see why he shouldn't be picked," Holah said.
As for the soft-spoken Sivivatu, he contents himself with the "it's up to them" line, in reference to the All Black selectors.
"The All Blacks are not really in my head. I just wanted to play for the Chiefs, work on ways I can improve my game."
Sivivatu returned to the Chiefs from a long-term shoulder injury in time for the round six loss to the Hurricanes. In his last five games he has scored eight tries.
The key to his game is the ability to change direction quickly, at speed and with power. There was one dropped high ball under no pressure on Saturday night which will have been noted. That should be balanced against serious attacking prowess.
"I'm getting pretty close to my best, but it takes a while to get back after a long injury," he said. "Maybe another two or three weeks."
He will train at his Te Awamutu Sports club, get in a spot of fishing at Whangamata to relax and wait for a phone call, most likely next Monday, which starts, "Hello Siti, it's Graham ... ".
