Man of the moment Daniel Carter sparked a flurry of excitement at an Auckland gym yesterday when he revealed his undies to an inquiring reporter.
So enthralled were gathered media and assorted onlookers that he was asked to do it again, which he obligingly did - several times. Carter has signed on again as ambassador for underwear line Jockey, and new billboards of the sporting star in nothing but his undies will be appearing across the country from next month.
The man touted as the New Zealand equivalent of David Beckham was clearly abashed at all the publicity. But, he says, his higher profile is "part of the job", and despite being stopped by strangers and groups of young girls on the street, he said he still manages to have a "normal" life, doing his own shopping and other chores.
