SYDNEY - The aggressiveness of Kapa O Pango put the All Blacks offside with British some rugby followers -- but an English parody of the haka may similarly offend the sensibilities of New Zealanders.
Skivedomain.com, a satirical website, has invited British and Irish rugby fans to create their own eight-step "Laka", complete with moves named "The Riverdance", "The Highland Fling" and "The Morecombe and Wise" -- a recreation of the English comedians' signature funny walk.
Once each move is selected -- there is no throat-slitting gesture or spear tackle manoeuvre by the way -- the Laka maker can add their own caption or rely on the pre-programmed vocals which are unintelligible but sound like they are based on the Maori language.
This all apparently results "in a fierce and funny tribal war dance" with the accompanied disclaimer: "the text and accompanying animation in no way represents the views of the British and Irish Lions".
Kapa o Pango's composer Derek Lardelli could not be reached for comment.
