Big cats back All Blacks for tonight's test

Feelings of feline favouritism may have blinded our lion soothsayers in the first Test last weekend.

The Herald's pride of match-predicting lions, in the wake of Paul the psychic octopus who guessed winners in football's 2010 World Cup, let themselves down by picking the visiting British & Irish Lions last week.

The Lions went down in the test 30-15 against the All Blacks at Eden Park.

After a week of soul-searching, much like Warren Gatland and his charges, the rampant lions are also hungry to notch a maiden victory.

For each test, the pride of lions at an undisclosed location in New Zealand are being given the choice of choosing between a black ball emblazoned with a silver fern, or a red ball featuring a lion.

Taking into account the form and clinical finishing of the World Cup-winning All Blacks in game one at Eden Park, the lions expect them to take an unassailable 2-0 lead in the series after tonight's test at Wellington's Westpac Stadium.

Big male Tawhiri was bold in his selection this week picking the men in black.

Lioness Tua was equally decisive in last week's choice, but she will be licking her wounds with her failed prediction.

By 9.30pm, New Zealand will know if the lions have what it takes in the match-prediction game.
