All Blacks hooker Anton Oliver has been drafted into the Otago squad for their opening premier provincial rugby match this weekend after being released from international duty.
Oliver, who played in Saturday's 35-17 Tri-Nations triumph here over South Africa, was one of four players released from the All Blacks squad for this weekend's test against Australia in Brisbane.
Otago open their campaign in Auckland against Counties-Manukau on Saturday and coach Steve Martin said Oliver was available for selection.
"It's great to have someone of Anton's experience and commitment to Otago back in the squad," Martin said.
"We'll have a chat and see what happens and he'll no doubt be considered for selection this week along with the other hookers in the squad."
Oliver would remain with Otago for two weeks.
Besides Oliver, lock Greg Rawlinson and the injured pair of halfback Piri Weepu and second five-eighth Sam Tuitupou were rested from the All Blacks squad.
