All Blacks halfback Piri Weepu wants to repay the selectors faith in him ahead of their season opener against Fiji in Dunedin on Friday.
Weepu missed a large part of Super Rugby this season through an injury he sustained last year but did enough to be named alongside Andy Ellis and Jimmy Cowan.
Weepu says he'd love first crack at the All Blacks number nine jersey.
He says if he's selected he needs to show the coaches he's capable of playing at All Black level still.
The test side is named early tomorrow morning.
