Young rugby fans at Mangere's Kingsford School were in awe when several All Black stars turned up in the playground for a working bee today.
Sam Whitelock, Wyatt Crockett, Liam Squire, and Waisake Naholo, along with about 10 to 15 volunteers from Ford, spruced up the garden and playground - creating new planter boxes, planting gardens and building new bench seats.
The players - dressed in All Blacks branded polo shirts and jeans - spent about two hours at the school, mucking in and getting their hands dirty and then posing for photos with eager young fans.
The event was organised by Ford and its charity partner of 27 years Variety the Children's Charity, which supports Kiwi kids in need, as part of the car manufacturer's "global caring month" where Ford employees spend two days completing community service projects.
Globally, more than 30,000 staff from Ford take part in volunteering programmes every year.
