In 105 years and 27 test matches against New Zealand, Scotland have never beaten the All Blacks.
The best they have managed is two draws, although they could have won the 25-25 game in 1983 had Peter Dods managed to convert a final minute try from the sideline.
The All Blacks'greatest winning margin against Scotland came in 2000 when they won 69-20 in Dunedin. That was also the biggest winning margin and the most number of tries (11) scored by New Zealand over the Scots.
The last time the two sides met was two years ago in Edinburgh, the All Blacks winning that game 32-6. Liam Messam made his All Black debut in that test match, and this weekend he makes his fourth test start at blindside flanker. Should Keven Mealamu's appeal against his four week suspension for head butting not be overturned, Hika Elliot will be making his test debut at hooker.
When Richie McCaw and Mils Muliaina take the field on Saturday, they will equal Sean Fitzpatrick's record of most test appearances for the All Blacks.
Fitzpatrick made his 92 appearances between 1986-1997. McCaw debuted for the All Blacks in 2001, and is already the most capped All Blacks captain with 54 tests.
Muliaina made his debut two years after McCaw, and has also captained the All Blacks in three test matches. Although he has played 91 test matches to date, amazingly this will be his first test against Scotland.
The All Blacks have scored 111 tries against Scotland, and their average winning score is 29 points to 11. SCotland, on the other hand, only average one try per test against the All Blacks - although it was three tests ago in 2005 that they last crossed the All Blacks' line.
Dan Carter has only played in two test matches against Scotland, with one start in the 2007 Rugby World Cup and off the bench in 2008. He has scored 17 points against Scotland (1 try, 3 conversions and a penalty) but is closing in on Jonny Wilkinson's record 1178 points.
Carter needs just 35 more points to overhaul Wilkinson as the leading points scorer in test rugby.
No other active player is remotely close to the pair.
