All Blacks coach Graham Henry has made seven changes to the team which beat Wales 42-9 in Dunedin last weekend for this Saturday's second test in Hamilton.
In the forwards, 62-test prop Tony Woodcock returns from injury to the front row with Neemia Tialata back at tighthead in place of Owen and Ben Franks.
Tom Donnelly returns from a calf injury in place of Anthony Boric, who has a cheekbone injury from the first Welsh test. Jerome Kaino replaces Victor Vito at blindside flanker.
Richard Kahui, who came off the bench at the weekend, slots in at centre in place of Conrad Smith while 82-test veteran Mils Muliaina, recovered from a calf strain, comes in for Israel Dagg at fullback.
Zac Guildford, who came off the bench against Ireland, is on the left wing.
Blues speedster Rene Ranger, 23, has been included in the reserves.
Smith is unavailable due to an eye injury, while Dagg is still suffering from concussion.
"With both Conrad and Israel unavailable through injury, Rene now gets his chance at test level," Henry said.
"He was a stand-out player in the Super 14 and he was also impressive for the Barbarians against New Zealand Maori."
