Allegations of French drug taking before a famous test win against the All Blacks have been strongly refuted by one of the French players.
First five Franck Mesnel played in the Test dubbed the 'Battle of Nantes'.
A new book due to be published next month claims the team doctor gave the players amphetamines before the game.
But Mesnel says the doctor quoted in the book wasn't the team doctor and there's no way the players were on speed.
He says he was 26 years old and they were mature and he would never take a pill without knowing what it was.
