KEY POINTS:
All Blacks first five-eighth Daniel Carter has signed with the New Zealand Rugby Union but is still to announce his sabbatical plans.
Carter put pen to paper earlier this week, contracting himself to the NZRU through until the 2011 World Cup in New Zealand.
The NZRU decided against officially announcing his retention as the 26-year-old had made his intentions known last week.
Carter is expected to announce his plans shortly for a six-month offshore sabbatical for the first half of next year which will see him miss the Super 14 but still be available for All Blacks selection.
He is weighing up the merits of two French clubs, with Toulon believed to be the frontrunner for his services.
