All Blacks halfback Justin Marshall believes his team are tougher mentally than the Wallabies and have the self-belief to regain the Bledisloe Cup and Tri-Nations trophy.
Memories of last-minute losses to Australia were erased to a large degree by New Zealand's committed win on Saturday night.
"I feel there was a lot more resolve, given how in the last couple of years Australia have managed to get us in the last quarter of the game, especially in the last two or three minutes," Marshall said.
"There was a real determination that we weren't going to let that happen to us again."
Most speculation after the match was on whether the All Blacks could repeat the win in what will probably be better conditions for the return match in Sydney on August 3.
A victory or draw would end Australia's four-year Bledisloe Cup reign.
Marshall said such talk ignored the test against South Africa this Saturday in Wellington.
"A lot of people are already saying we can win the Bledisloe Cup and, yes, we now believe we can beat Australia," he said.
"But if you look any further ahead than one game, it will come back and bite you."
