Former All Blacks assistant coach Wayne Smith's next coaching move is likely to be with a top five international side.
Smith has taken up a technical advisor role with the Chiefs for the next Super Rugby season.
But he has an out clause to leave at the end of the competition and has been linked with Nick Mallett as favourite to take over the vacant England job.
Smith's confirmed he has had talks with England officials.
He says he's had discussions with England and other unions and has a strong desire to coach an international team again.
