Taranaki flanker Scott Waldrom has suffered a broken hand which will rule him out of rugby's national provincial championship for about a month.
The injury incurred during the defeat of Otago last Thursday rules him out of a showdown with another former All Blacks openside, Daniel Braid, on Sunday when Auckland host Taranaki.
Waldrom recently returned from a two-month break, having ripped a tendon off the bone in his thumb playing for the New Zealand Barbarians in June.
The 30-year-old has signed with the Chiefs for next year's Super 15.
