KEY POINTS:
The Queensland Rugby Union has promised to stick by little-known Phil Mooney through thick and thin after making him the sixth Reds coach in seven years.
The three-year appointment of Mooney, the Australian Under-19 mentor, was swiftly announced yesterday after leading contender Michael Foley withdrew from the race.
Mooney, 41, replaces Eddie Jones. Since current Wallabies coach John Connolly was ousted in 2000, the Reds have been guided by Mark McBain (2001-02), Andrew Slack (2003), Jeff Miller (2004-06) and Jones (2007).
