Former All Black Black Nathan Mauger has been appointed assistant coach of Japan's new Super Rugby side the Sunwolves.
The former Crusaders centre will work under his old team mate and former Hurricanes coach Mark Hammett.
Mauger was the backs coach for the Canterbury under 19 side which won the national title last year.
