Eastwood is held in high regard at Canterbury who are believed to be keen on retaining the 29-year-old beyond this season but are yet to table a formal offer.
This season Eastwood has taken on a mentoring role for the Bulldogs' crop of young Kiwi players, a position previously occupied by Frank Pritchard.
El Masri rejects NRL's insulting offer
Bulldogs great Hazem El Masri has rejected an offer to return to his position as an NRL ambassador after he was offered a deal that was 80 per cent less than the contract he was on before being stood down.
El Masri was dropped from the role last year after he was charged with assaulting his ex-wife, before the 39-year-old was exonerated of all charges in March.
The Bulldogs were quick to reinstate him as a club ambassador on the same wage but the NRL have failed to follow suit.
Maguire comes out swinging
Rabbitohs coach Michael Maguire was reportedly wielding a baseball bat in the changing sheds while delivering an epic halftime spray to his players in their round six clash against Manly.
The notoriously intense Maguire ensured the cameras were covered while he went about stressing the key areas in which his side needed to improve before they went on to win 16-12.
Maguire is always thinking for new and different ways to get the best out of his players but this latest initiative takes the cake.
Referees to rebel against Archer
Referee's boss Tony Archer is reportedly offside with several leading match officials who are set to demand the NRL relieve him of his position.
The disgruntled refs want a change of leadership and believe Archer has made their jobs harder by changing rule interpretations and is too negative in his performance reviews.
The group believes Archer gives preferential treatment to refs that toe the line while any that oppose him are left out in the cold.
Stuart cops it from Eels faithful
Parramatta fans made their feelings known to former coach Ricky Stuart when he returned to Pirtek Stadium with Canberra last Saturday.
A large portion of the 12,947-strong crowd took up the chant, "Ricky, Ricky", as the Eels went about thrashing the Raiders 36-6.
Stuart took it all in good jest, saying post-match: "I just really appreciate the fact they're still thinking of me."
