NRL: Warriors deny Green approach, Gubb to join Raiders

The Warriors have denied they are chasing Manly five-eighth Blake Green for next season as they prepare for life without Kieran Foran.

Green is contracted to the Sea Eagles until the end of next season but according to Australia's Channel Nine, the 30-year-old veteran is eager to secure his future with a potential two or three year deal at the Warriors.

Manly are reportedly unwilling to extend Green's contract and would need to grant him a release for him to take up a rival offer.

New Warriors CEO Cameron George is friends with Green, but denies the club is pursuing the experienced journeyman, who recently played his 200th career game.

"Right now where we are with our recruitment, we're obviously in the market looking for options, and any quality person that came up we'd certainly have a look at and if they fitted our requirements we'd certainly have an interest," said George.

"You've asked me about Blake Green, I can say right now he's not connected to this club. As far as I understand he's contracted to Manly."

After starting his career with Parramatta in 2007, Green did the rounds at Cronulla, Canterbury, Hull KR, Wigan, and Melbourne, before establishing a strong halves combination with Manly captain Daly Cherry-Evans this season.

Warriors coach Stephen Kearney confirmed yesterday that the club hopes to announce some new signings in the next week or so.

The club has made a big money approach to Kiwis captain and Brisbane Broncos front-rower Adam Blair, who has also received lucrative offers from both Newcastle and St George Illawarra.

Bolstering their forward pack remains a priority for the Warriors, but the club have continued to keep an eye out for an experienced half to assist star No7 Shaun Johnson, with Foran leaving at the end of the season to take up a three-year deal with the Bulldogs.

Young playmaker Ata Hingano has impressed in 12 appearances for the Warriors this season but is still finding his feet in the NRL.

Meanwhile, Warriors fan favourite Charlie Gubb will be playing in lime green next season after signing with the Canberra Raiders.

The 27-year-old front-rower will join the Raiders on a two-year deal with the club having the option for the second season.

Canberra beat out interest from the Cowboys, and offers from Super League clubs Salford and Leeds, to sign Gubb, with the deal to be announced next week after the 10 day cooling off period ends.

After debuting in 2013, Gubb will play his 40th and final match for the Warriors in Sunday's clash against Wests Tigers at Leichardt Oval.
