As Warriors management consider moves to re-sign the likes of Brent Tate and Micheal Luck, they have secured second-rower Lewis Brown for another two years.
The 23-year-old has proved his worth in his 19 appearances, including last night's match against the Bulldogs, after arriving as a hooker and converting to the back row.
Brown played in 15 matches last season and his form earned a spot in the Kiwis' train-on squad to prepare for the 2009 Four Nations. Brown was thrilled with the club's show of faith through until the end of the 2012 season.
"There's lots of support for you here and plenty of competition for spots," he said.
Warriors coach Ivan Cleary said Brown had been a success.
"He arrived as a player who had shown some promise and has turned out to be a bit of a revelation. He brings so much enthusiasm into the side. While he came here as a hooker, we actually saw potential in him as back rower."
Brown started playing league with the Riccarton Knights in Christchurch before moving to play in the junior grades for the Sydney Roosters, followed by a stint at Wests Tigers, playing New South Wales Cup football for feeder club Balmain Ryde.
He started last season in the NSW Cup competition with the Auckland Vulcans and earned his first-grade debut in round eight.
