Warriors managing director Jim Doyle confirmed the club's interest in the five-eighth on Tuesday, although no formal offer has been tabled.
McFadden said any potential deal would hinge on Foran overcoming both his health-related and personal problems.
"No, I haven't talked to Kieran once," McFadden told D'Arcy Waldegrave on Radio Sport.
"I know Jim has been speaking to Kieran. He has been ever since I've been here.
"Ever since I've know Jim he's been a mate of Kieran's so from my perspective, he's a quality player so we'd be silly not to look at him.
"His welfare is first and foremost. He's obviously had very publicised issues so he's got to make sure he's healthy and then the rest of it with his body, he's coming back from a shoulder injury.
"I'm not sure where he's at with all that so that would have to be looked at as well."
Foran has reportedly received an invitation to stay in Auckland with dual code superstar Sonny Bill Williams, who on Wednesday will undergo surgery to repair a partial tear to his achilles tendon suffered last week at the Rio Olympics.
Williams is facing an extended layoff requiring rest and recovery, two things that would also benefit Foran as he continues to weigh up his career options.
It's understood Foran will wait until his former Kiwis test teammate has completed the early stages of his recovery before heading across the Tasman to stay with him and travel around the country.
The Warriors have some space under their salary cap to make Foran an offer but it would be considerably less than he was earning at the Eels.
Doyle's interest in getting Foran to Auckland is understood to go beyond his value as a potential marquee signing for the Warriors.
Like recent new recruits Roger Tuivasa-Sheck and Issac Luke, Doyle shares a personal relationship with Foran going back to his time in charge of the New Zealand Rugby League.
The pair remain on good terms and have been in regular contact as Foran in recent months.
"I've talked to Kieran more regularly this year to offer support as he dealt with personal challenges he was facing," said Doyle.
"His wellbeing has been the focus.
"When Kieran decides he's ready to resume his playing career, we'll certainly be interested in talking to him further."
If Foran was to play with the Warriors next season they would be well stocked to make a serious tilt at a maiden premiership. Together with halfback Shaun Johnson, Tuivasa-Sheck and Luke, the Warriors would have the Kiwis test spine.
The Warriors last month granted a release to five-eighth Thomas Leuluai from the final year of his contract to allow him to return to England with Family and Foran could fill that void of experience and ability.
McFadden was adamant a deal remained a long way off and said his immediate attention was fixed on helping the ninth-ranked Warriors reclaim a spot in the top eight, starting with Saturday's away clash against the Cowboys in Townsville.
"A lot of water has got to go under the bridge first," he said.
"But at the moment it's all just speculation and certainly from my point of view I'm very much focused on this season."
