"I start work on Monday, as many people will be doing, so I'll be joining in with them," he said.
"Last year was a really big year for me with Origin and the rep stuff at the end. I enjoyed my break, I needed it but I'm feeling very refreshed and very excited.
"I've been doing a bit of training especially over the past few weeks because with that shortened preseason we've really got to hit the ground running.
"I sort of feel like I've been in a bit of limbo at the moment with not really having stepped foot in the organisation but I'm really looking forward to it and excited for a big season with the Warriors."
The 30-year-old leaves behind a fine legacy, having played 236 NRL games over two stints and 12 seasons at the Storm. He featured in four of their five grand final appearances - 2006, 2007, 2009 and 2012 - while he missed the fifth in 2008 through injury.
"It was a sad time but I had 12 great years there. It's rugby league, it happens. But when I said my goodbyes I got all the best wishes from them and I'm looking forward to going back there and playing against them in round five."
A stint with Wigan in the UK Super League in 2011 means Hoffman arrives here to reunite with Warriors fullback Sam Tomkins and utility Thomas Leuluai. He also knows coach Andrew McFadden after the pair played together at the Storm in 2003 and 2004. His decision to shift across the Tasman was made easier when all three gave the Auckland lifestyle the thumbs up.
"I certainly spoke to Sam a lot and Tommy and I know Andrew McFadden. I definitely did my research and they said it's a very enjoyable place.
"Especially Sam, it was his first year last year and he gave it a glowing endorsement and that was something I wanted to be a part of.
"It's good to be playing with blokes like Sammy and Tommy again and it is always handy knowing someone.
"They've always had a great squad but it's all about bringing it together at the right time and finding the right combination. Everyone has got a lot of faith in Andrew McFadden and it is all shaping up. I've got to get into training with the boys and sort of prove myself to them as well."
The outstanding form of the Warriors' Kiwis contingent during their triumphant Four Nations campaign means expectations are high heading into the new season, and Hoffman believes signs are positive for the Penrose-based club.
"The whole country is on a bit of a buzz after the Four Nations and as well they should. A lot of the Warriors players played very, very well so it's something I'm sure the club is going to look to build on and really push forward to improving on what they did last year."
